House of Earth and Blood

What readers say

Readers say this opener rewards patience: the first part throws a lot of powers, factions and hierarchy at you, but the murder mystery, friendships and banter pull most readers in, and the ending is widely praised. Fans like the modern-city setting full of angels and fae. Critics find the early chapters hard to follow, the romance predictable and the spice heavy at times.

Best for: Readers who like a murder mystery inside a big fantasy world and don't mind a slow start.
